Let Listo Calisto propel you to the next level of your
film career.
The name Listo Calisto roughly translates to ‘Ready Freddy’ in Spanish. This is a phrase that Julian’s Abuelito [grandfather] would say when he was young before he pushed him on the swing.
Listo Calisto is an advocacy organization in Canada that aims to tackle institutional and cultural issues by offering practical programming and networking events for emerging and established Latin creatives.
Our History
2022
Listo Calisto opens its doors during TIFF 2022 as a for profit corporation assisting creatives in developing their projects as well as brokering with sales companies, distributors, broadcasters on behalf of the creatives to sell their projects.
2023
Founder Julian Ritchie realizes the lack of representiation, network and cohesive community amongst Latinos and begins to organize the inaugural Latin Forum.
Today
After many months of organizing and effort, the inaugural Latin Forum takes place on July 17, 2024. With a team together, Julian decides to turn Listo Calisto into a non-profit organization to bring together and amplify the Latin community.
“I started Listo Calisto as a way of continuing my learning and development in the screen industry. Through attending film festivals, conferences, and symposiums I found I wasn’t meeting many Latinos. There was other incredible cultural endeavors but nothing for the Latin community. I hope for Listo Calisto to be a hub for the Latin community. A place for us to share ideas, collaborate, develop, find gainful employment and build a strong community. Giving creatives opportunity and direction and a rapidly evolving and incredibly competitive industry is part of our mission, but we hope to impact every level of the industry. From those who wish to enter the industry, all the way up to the C-Suite.”

Our Vision
Create real and systemic change by providing job and career opportunities in all divisions of the media industry. To be the leading resource for Latin creatives, entrepreneurs and workers in the media industry.
Our Mission
We aim to build and empower a vibrant community of Latin screen media artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Our focus is to transform the Canadian screen industry by dismantling barriers to funding, training, and employment opportunities for Latin and other BIPOC creatives—whether in front of or behind the camera, on set, or in decision-making roles.
Our Values
We believe that the industries future success is dependent on a more diverse industry, in front of the camera and in decision making roles. We aim to foster community, conversation, and collaboration among Latin, connecting them with audiences across Canada and around the world. We aim to educate on the distinction between racial diversity and cultural diversity, and strive to create a level playing field for all.
